So this summer I am going to EUROPE! This trip is coming at a unique turning point in my life. I have experienced loss in many ways this year - I lost my car keys, a few times. I lost incredible opportunities and willingly let go of others. I lost my way and at some point along the way I lost myself. At the start of this year, I experienced the worst kind of loss when I lost one of my best friends to a freak accident that left me feeling too many emotions to describe.
Through it all, I learned many lessons. I'm still learning most of them. Some lessons are more profound than others. But I learned the greatest lesson when I started to realize life is too short and the world is too big to wait any longer to see it for myself.
I think in those moments - when things get really hard - it's important to focus on what you have to look forward to. Focusing on the good things keeps your mind off the bad. It reminds you that for every bad thing that happens, there's hundreds of good things waiting just around the corner. Even though I can't see it yet, I look at that map and know brighter days are ahead. My adventure is just beginning.
From May 15 - July 15 I will be starting a new chapter of my adventure. It's pretty surreal to think about. I am so excited, seriously... I AM SPENDING TWO MONTHS IN EUROPE, Y'ALL!
Many people have expressed how excited they are for me or how they wish they could take a trip like this for themselves. The truth is anyone can! There were a lot of things that could've held me back from taking the chance to go on this trip. A lot of safety nets were waiting to catch me to keep me from this adventure. I could've gone with the safe choice or the practical choice. I could've chosen to stay in a well-paying job and continue my way up the corporate ladder.
I have learned what's really important in life - our time on this earth and how we spend it. I want to spend my time exploring the world and meeting new people who make me see things differently, I don't want to just believe that life is a beautiful adventure, I want to live that way.
